Afternoon tea in the Clybaun Hotel

On my last day in the lab, the guys surprised me with a bunch of lovely gifts including a voucher for afternoon tea and a glass of prosecco in the Clybaun Hotel. The guy who served us was very friendly and we sat in the conservatory. It was my first time in the hotel which seemed pretty nice. The conservatory was lovely and had lots of light and a really high ceiling. The afternoon tea came with the usually three tiers, a ham and cheese sambo and a chicken sambo on the bottom tier. The middle tier had scones with cream and jam and the top tier had a passion fruit cheese cake, an apple cheese cake, a chocolate brownie and a double chocolate cheese cake. I got a big pot of green tea to go with mine and the OH had an amaericano. S and J also joined us and got big pots of peppermint and regular tea. I really liked the delph-ware that was used, it was very pretty. The afternoon tea was nice but it wasn’t fantastic. My favourite element of the tea was the chicken sandwich. The chocolate cheese cake had a bit of an odd taste to it which was my least favourite element. The voucher was a lovely gift and a lovely relaxing Sunday afternoon well spent.
